Cheap Domain Names

A domain name, or URL, must be entered into a web browsers address bar in order to visit a web site This domain name is often a business name or a phrase describing what the site is about or it may be a site name. There are companies that specialize in dealing in cheap domain names and hosting companies that regularly offer no charge domain names, but there is an essential difference between the two. The usual domain names offered by free hosting companies are in the form of sub domain names.

Names that are simply tacked on to the hosting company’s domain name, so that will need to be typed in as well are what we refer to as sub domains. The big disadvantage to this is that the domain name will be very long – another problem is that it will make it difficult to remember. Of course buying your own unique name will make the domain shorter and easier to remember. It is possible to get an inexpensive domain name with the proliferation of cheap domain names.

Cheap domain names can be free or they can range in price up to around seven dollars. However, if a free domain name is worth anything then it will usually be included in the price of web hosting, so in effect the customer is still paying for it. There is no need to get a web hosting package if you purchase a separate paid for domain name. These paid for domains will cost anything from one dollar upwards.

A customer must follow the same process for registering a domain name whether they bought a cheap domain name or paid a regular price. When purchasing a domain name, checking that it is still available for purchase is the first step. Doing this is easy, a customer enters the domain name that they want into the text box, and then they choose the extension that they want. If the domain name is still to be had, then they can buy it – if the name is not to be had, they must select another one. Some company’s are helpful and will suggest alternative domain names when the one chosen is unavailable.

Unfortunately there are down sides to using cheap domain names, a person name never receive their domain name of the company they are using is unscrupulous. The company will tell the customer that the domain will not be active immediately and that they will have to wait for some time. Unfortunately a customer usually finds that they have discovered an unscrupulous company when their e-mails to customer services, explaining that their domains are still inactive, go unanswered.

If a cheap domain name company is fraudulent then they are unlikely to be registered with the Better Business Bureau, so checking with them is a good first step in protecting yourself. The Better Business Bureau makes sure that companies are operating legitimately. A regular land based contact system of things like a phone number and address are not usually found with a counterfeit cheap domain name company, so a good second step is to see if you can find them. Thirdly, visit some message boards that cater to webmasters and see if the company has a bad reputation there.

A good reason to stay clear is if you are unable to find someone who has dealt with the company you are considering. There is no other drawback to using a reputable cheap domain name company to get a discounted domain name. Cheap domain names work in the same way as regularly priced domain, so if a person knows of a reputable cheap domain name company then they should take advantage of it.

Getting Listed In Google Quickly

August 19, 2008 · Filed Under Tips & Advice · Comment

Please note: if your site is listed with Google already, then any further attempt in submission would not help expedite listing. When you search ‘Google submit’ you can find the page where sites are submitted. Understandably, their page would be the first to feature on the list but there are other ways which can be deployed to make your site stand out and get picked up by them.

When your site has links with sites which is frequented regularly, then Google catches it faster. However using the many online directories would easily be the way to go, quicker and simpler. Directories which are high ranked are regularly checked by Google and site indexing can get done faster if you have links from any of them.

You have a choice between free directories and paid subscriptions and it is entirely up to your budget and preference. Business directories which also have similar interest areas as yours are good since Google is always keen to find links between the two, when indexing your site. You site ought to be dealing with the same issues as the business directory.

The sure shot way to get top rankings with Google is to get listed with DMOZ, sometimes called an Open Directory. To get Google to pick up your site, this is however not the speediest way. It might take you several weeks or months before you get listed by DMOZ. This is because a category editor personally evaluates every site that is submitted and it all matters where in the line your site is located. One important point to remember is that when submitting to DMOZ, you must ready and follow their stipulations thoroughly.

You could also submit articles to the relevant sites and get indexed by Google. Nearly all the worthy article sites allow you to leave behind your tell tale signature box called ‘About the Author’ or ‘Author Resource’. It is here that you add the critical link to your site.

One of the great advantages of writing meaningful articles is that other sites use them in their sites. This is done when they carry your author resource box also as this is your key to a free link to your site. This is one successful way to get picked up by Google and if the articles deal with same subject as your business, then chances of increased traffic to your site are far more.

Buying Backlinks

Expect to make good money if you find some profitable deals and this ought to push you to do some research. Forums and search engines are great places to start your research. There are several forums, some of them more popular that the rest, which coach you how to make online, where to buy, trade or swap links and the more popular forums are better.

Useful hints for buying links.

Site wide links are not as powerful as they seem but it means you get a link from all the pages, or many pages within the same website. For example ten thousand backlinks from a website which has ten thousand pages. The point is that Google usually ignores many of the links which are emanating from the same site. They will not count as ten thousand backlinks for sure but obviously you still get some value.

Great deals could also involve article and directory submission or backlinks from a network of blogs. Buying multiple directory submission services make no sense as they are likely to congregate into the same sites. To strike the best deal with directory submissions, you have to devote adequate time for research. You would be considered to have made a commendable deal when you get a thousand directory submissions.

Article submission also holds the same rules so when buying such services make sure that submissions are not made to the same directories and hence it is wise to ask for lists or samples of directories where such submissions would be made. Submission to a thousand article directories is to be treated as a fabulous deal. Going on with your research beyond this point is not suggested as this is extra load of work.

Understand that backlinks purchase means that a lot of links are directed towards your site. This is a great thing to happen, but ascertain that you have used different anchor texts. After making some six to eight variances of you prime keywords, use all of them. For example if your main keywords are blue car, then creating variation would mean making new keywords keeping the original main keywords intact. Without taking this too much to heart, make sure that they are changed in between. You have to remember one very important aspect when you are buying backlinks from blog network is that the IP address from where the blogs are posted should differ. Even if they do not have any pagerank, it does not matter so long as they are indexed.

Some deals could include purchase of links of pagerank sites which are high on the ladder, but such links are priced very high. There is hardly any point in getting into deals where your budget does not allow you to take such plunges, but if you buy several links from sites which have currently zero to low pageranks, it could turn into a goldmine later. You must be certain however that the sites are indexed.

Spyware & Malware

With a thesis on money laundering, a certain law student frequently used Google to find her online references. This easy tool was extremely useful to the student in her writing process. After working on the project for a short time, the student faced the annoyance of being directed to a site that had nothing to do with money laundering each time she typed specific key terms.

Her hopes of it being an easy to repair problem with the internet or the search engine were dashed as the glitch refused to go away, and she was forced to concede that she had likely been bugged. Whenever we are bothered by human annoyances, those are easily dealt with. Defending ourselves from the attacks of the adware and spyware that infected the student’s computer is harder to do. The law school student was definitely not an advanced student of technology, as she typically only used her computer for school related purposes of research and writing.

Unfortunately, her case was incredibly common, as there are many people who fall prey to harmful and annoying problems known as spyware and adware. The word ‘spyware’ was coined in 1995, though it was not until the year 2000 that it began seeing frequent use by the general populace. This refers to any software program or script which allows admission to the computer owner’s personal information.

This is done by studying logging keystrokes, web browsing history and even scanning a user’s hard drive. With the advent of spyware, infiltration moved off the big screen of Hollywood movies and into the homes of millions of unsuspecting individuals that can be taken advantage of at any time. The unsuspecting people targeted by these attacks are victims because nobody wants to have their private computer activities compromised. Spyware may help track criminals and their activities, but this type of program is used far more often for such vile activities as tracking credit card information from unsuspecting victims. It is simply irresponsible for anyone to be negligent in their use of a great anti-spyware program.

Ordinary people can protect themselves by blocking spyware and all other software programs similar to it like adware and malware. This is made easy by getting one of the many adware and spyware blocker programs that are available online. Disabling the harmful programs that are already in place is one function of these blockers, but so too is preventing any additional harmful programs that are similar in nature.

Viruses and worms manage to prevent regular computer usage by their self replication, but although spyware, adware and malware do not self replicate, they too can cause disturbances in the daily activities of computers. Frequently, the ‘harmless’ spying can result in slowing down the entire computer system so that running the system or any of its programs takes forever. Unfortunately for many computer owners, spyware programs can and do hide on their systems, causing havoc while being undetectable as the root of the problem. Fighting the problem before it starts, by installing a good blocker, is the way to go.
